Josh Agee

Josh is a licensed Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer with 18 years of experience empowering athletes and active individuals. His broad expertise has shaped a unique, client-focused model of physical therapy. Josh founded Optimize Rehab and Performance in 2025. To Josh, helping people get out of pain and regain their function is more than a job or a profession; it's a passion.

Josh's interest in sports medicine was ignited during his high school years as a competitive gymnast, where he personally experienced the transformative impact of an Athletic Trainer. He earned his Athletic Training certification from the University of Central Missouri in 2007. His early career saw him gain invaluable experience through a season-long internship with the NBA’s Seattle SuperSonics and a graduate assistantship at the University of Oklahoma. There, he simultaneously earned his Master's in Adult and Higher Education while providing athletic training support to the Men's Gymnastics team. He also contributed his expertise to the United Football League's Las Vegas Locomotives.

Committed to continuous growth and excellence, Josh furthered his education, earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University in 2014. During his doctoral studies, he continued to serve as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer for various sports teams. Post-graduation, Josh excelled in outpatient clinic settings, working with individuals of all ages and activity levels. He has also served Team USA for the past 11 years, working primarily with the men's program for USA Gymnastics.

Outside of work, Josh lives in Independence, MO, with his wife and two daughters. He's active in his church and enjoys family time, running, outdoor activities, pickleball, disc golf, and swimming with his girls.
